"My daughter joined CCA this year and by far it was the best decision we made! We were hesitant to apply due to the tuition cost and because we are not weekly church worshipers. We didn't know what to expect, but we also knew that the public-school system was failing our daughter. CCA worked with us to find a tuition rate that worked with our family's budget and made it attainable for our child to attend this amazing school. CCA doesn't push religion instead they encourage students to be their best selves every day, but more importantly they promote goodness and healthy relationships between students, teachers and communities. CCA was the best thing we ever did for our daughter; her engagement and excitement about school is infectious, but even more importantly is the education level and positive environment they provide her has helped her become her best self. Meet David Nieman - graduate of Cornerstone, then Brewster Academy, then Emerson College. Since 2015, he has worked in the film industry in LA and just launched his own freelance post production company - Granular Post.
David attributes his academic success to his start at Cornerstone. Smaller class sizes at Cornerstone allowed him to learn through guided instruction in a hands on approach – a way he continues to learn and master skills. David's love for Science and Art blossomed at Cornerstone through the project-based curriculum.
Most importantly, David credits Cornerstone for the opportunity to know Christ during the school day. David believes instruction in Bible-based values gave him a solid foundation for who he was to be in arguably the hardest time of an adolescents' social maturity.
"Peer pressure isn't a pressure at Cornerstone and kids don't have to feel the pressure of being different. We were all different and developed great friendships during that time. I don't think there was ever a time where I felt I had to hide some part of myself. My time at Cornerstone prepared me for being ok with being different."
Working in the Film Industry can be all consuming and isolating and David credits his Faith for the balance in his life.
"My life is balanced and I attribute so much of that to my faith. Film industry can be all consuming, and can be isolating. Being involved in the church in LA has been huge, sharing faith with my fiancé is huge. Being outdoorsy has provided me such balance to being in the studio. I think Cornerstone prepares you for a really balanced life and I think that anywhere you go you can find a community of people who share that Faith."
