Position Summary: The Middle School Teacher has primary responsibility for planning and implementing all programs for instruction, program planning, assessment, and supervision in the specific content area. This includes creating a safe and enriching environment, providing developmentally appropriate activities, and facilitating effective communication between and among students, faculty, parents. and program administration.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Prayerfully help students learn attitudes, skills, and subject matter that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible Christians to the praise and glory of God
- Plan, evaluate, and implement lessons designed to encourage physical, social and academic growth in each student assigned
- Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
- Prepare and distribute required reports
- Observe, assess, and evaluate student's performance
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by invoking approved disciplinary procedures
- Maintains a safe, organized classroom, which supports students’ independent learning, collaboration, and choice
- Provides a variety of assessments and uses assessments for planning and instruction
- Uses available technology/instructional media to enhance the students’ learning experiences
- Establishes and maintains appropriate relationships with students, parents, staff, and community members by communicating in a tactful, courteous, and confidential manner
- Appropriately communicates and interacts with other professional staff in academic planning and school committee work
- Attends and participates in staff meetings and extra-curricular/school related activities and committees
- Demonstrates a commitment to continuous professional growth and works with administrator to formulate and complete professional development plans
- Maintains a professional appearance and demonstrates behavior that is conscientious and responsible
- Will monitor both Early Birds (8am – 8:15am) and Highlights (3:15 – 4pm) 1 day a week.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- Hold a valid Elementary K-8 Certificate OR Elementary 1- 8 Certificate
- Must pass a Background Criminal Investigation check
- Must be able to obtain American Red Cross First Aid and CPR certifications within 60 days of hire and keep them current throughout employment
Other Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is routinely required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and occasionally climb or balance.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move 20-25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move 35-50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- May be required to work outside normal working hours.
